About us
Claypole Equestrian is owned and run by myself, Becky Price. I have been around horses all my life despite not coming from a horsey background. I started riding at the age of 6 and a year later I was bought my first pony. Due to my parents lack of knowledge the ponies were usually quirky ones that no one else wanted. Re-schooling these unmade ponies gave me the skills and the passion for producing horses that stay with me today. It also made me appreciate each and every horse as an individual and to recognise when they found something difficult. Click on the photos below for more information on my early rides!
Following school I went on to Lincoln University where I gained a BSc (Hons) in Equine Sports Science. I then went on to work with some of the country's top riders and trainers. Since January 2006 I have been Yard Manager at one of the leading equine spa and rehabilitation facilities in the East Midlands. Working closely with some of the best vets and equine therapy specialists in the country has given me a vast knowledge of rehabilitation programmes and post-operative care for a wide range of horses from well loved family pets to high level competition animals.
What do we do?
I have produced many quality young horses over the years (please see the Success Stories page for more details). I particularly enjoy working with young horses and am meticulous and patient in my work. I strongly believe that building good strong foundations in a horse's early education is vital. All the horses that I produce are given a broad and varied education which includes training with my regular trainers Islay Auty (List Two dressage judge, Chief Examiner and FBHS), John Bowen and JP Sheffield (International 4* event rider). They start their competition careers at one of the many excellent competition venues in the area such as Arena UK, Vale View and Weston Lawns.
